TRAINING REPORT ON COLONEL PROPAGATION


Vennu : NMCT office training hall
Date : 23.7.2008
Purpose : colonal propagation
Participants: 25
Resource persons : Mr Jayakumar retired agricultural officer and Mr sankara narayanan, Director NMCT
We have organized a shade net cultivation training for MCRC-DBT beneficiaries on 23.7.2008. 25 aspirants participated in the training very enthusiastically
During the session the senior agriculture officer fully explained AtoZ information about colonel propagation, its importance and its impact very elaborately

shadenet cultivation is nothing but indoor planting at optimum and adequate light temperature. certain plants cannot be cultivated in open field areas but will be successfully cultivated in Green house with good quality and high yield. Moreover the plants cultivated in the green house will have an extended life span compared with open area field.
There are three types of field raised .In floriculture cut flowers carnation crysanthamum rose swap dragon orchid etc
In vegetable,chillies, brinjal capsicum, tomatoes etc Apart from this medicinal herbs which are having high market potential are a major breakthrough in export oriented one.
The main fact of idea behind erection of green house is to arrest direct hit of sun rays (ultra violet rays) on the plant which is a must to be filtered and provide optimum level for better growth of good field potential.
Also the direct hit of rain showers on the plant will be a major destruction which is to be protected of minimized to save them from rote disease and fungal attacks. Besides this green house protect the plants from pest disease attack coming through velocity from neighboring fields

During the session it was also emphasized organic method of cultivation. All the attended participants showed keen interest towards Green house techniques and Mr Jayakumar accept to periodical visit and guidance for the colonel propagation
The training concluded with national anthem by participants at 5 pm

Introduction: About DBT

The setting up of a separate Department of Biotechnology (DBT), under the Ministry of Science and Technology in 1986 gave a new impetus to the development of the field of modern biology and biotechnology in India.
